Our stretch of dry days finally came to an end on Friday, when for the first time in two weeks, the Fort Wayne International Airport recorded measurable rainfall. Some areas saw a good soaking from the showers and storms that moved through on Friday, while others did not see much rainfall at all. Unfortunately, the storms also caused some damage. Friday storms end dry spell and cause damage Temperatures soared up into the 90s on both Friday and Saturday, which is fitting for the last two full days of summer! In fact, we saw near-record high temperatures in Fort Wayne both days. That's one way to break our streak of consecutive 80 degree days, although in the wrong direction. We saw near record heat to wrap up astronomical summer. Skies are partly cloudy this morning. We'll see cloud cover increase to mostly cloudy skies mid-to-late morning. Temperatures get into the mid-to-upper 60s by 9 AM, and the mid-70s by 11 AM. Skies become cloudy to start the afternoon. By 1 PM, rain showers and a few thunderstorms will be on our doorstep and enter the Fort Wayne area at around 3-4 PM. We will continue to see occasional rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the remainder of the afternoon and through the evening and overnight. Mostly cloudy skies at 9 AM. Most of our rain chances will be out by 2 AM tonight. Most rainfall amounts are expected to be up to around 0.5" but locally higher amounts may occur in the heavier rain bands or storms. Rainfall amounts will vary across the area, with the highest amounts expected where the heavier pockets of rain will be. We see a pause in substantial rain chances on Monday, with only a slight chance for rain then. Mostly cloudy skies for Monday. Humidity levels today and Tuesday reach the "Humid" category on the Muggy Meter. It's been quite some time since we've had elevated levels of humidity. Some uncomfortable humidity returns on Sunday and Tuesday. Temperature-wise, highs will stay in the 70s all week long and we'll turn mainly dry after Tuesday. Any additional rain chances will depend on where potential tropical development in the Gulf of Mexico goes...stay tuned for updates. Should we see the remnants of a tropical system pass through, it will not be until the weekend or later.
