RIDGELAND, S.C. (WSAV) - The Jasper County Detention center caught fire Saturday night, Jasper County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Jeff Crosby tells News 3.
Crosby says the call came in around 8:30 p.m., and several deputies were dispatched to the detention center. The fire has since been extinguished.
We are told multiple patients were transported to the hospital with burn injuries.
Jasper County Detention Center conducted a head count at the jail. They believe all prisoners are accounted for. There appears to be no threat to the public.
The cause or extent of the fire is unknown at this time.
