Our stretch of dry days finally came to an end on Friday, when for the first time in two weeks, the Fort Wayne International Airport recorded measurable rainfall. Some areas saw a good soaking from the showers and storms that moved through on Friday, while others did not see much rainfall at all. Unfortunately, the storms also caused some damage. Friday storms end dry spell and cause damage Temperatures soared up into the 90s on both Friday and Saturday, which is fitting for the last two full days of summer! In fact, we saw near record high temperatures in Fort Wayne both days... We saw near record heat to wrap up astronomical summer. Look for skies to be partly cloudy as you head out the door early Sunday morning. Temperatures will be mild in the lower 60s. Temperatures generally dip down into the lower 60s by daybreak Sunday under partly cloudy skies. Skies turn mostly cloudy later Sunday morning as our next weather system works its way in. By the afternoon, look for occasional rain showers and even a few thunderstorms to arrive. We'll take some much-needed, widespread, organized rainfall, even though rainfall totals will not be very heavy. High temperatures Sunday will reach the upper 70s around lunchtime and it will be a humid day. Clouds increase Sunday morning.Showers begin to arrive into the afternoon Sunday.We'll see periods of showers and a few thunderstorms.Precipitation continues into the evening hours Sunday. Look for most of the rain to wrap up by around midnight Sunday night. When all is said and done, rainfall amounts look to be up to around a half an inch. While not drought-busting, this will help. Only a slight rain chance persists into Monday before we track another weather system to move through on Tuesday. This system will bring us more rainfall and more humid air. Some uncomfortable humidity returns on Sunday and Tuesday. Temperature-wise, highs will stay in the 70s all week long and we'll turn mainly dry after Tuesday. Any additional rain chances will depend on where potential tropical development in the Gulf of Mexico goes...stay tuned for updates. Should we see the remnants of a tropical system pass through, it will not be until the weekend or later.
