Louisiana State Police trooper arrested, faces battery charges after fight at LSU football game

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An off-duty trooper with the Louisiana State Police was arrested following a physical altercation at the LSU vs. UCLA football game on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Artellus Bellard, 30, of Lake Charles was arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery. According to state police, Bellard, was released on a summons with a pending court date.
During the LSU vs. UCLA football game, law enforcement personnel responded to a disturbance in the stands and found that a physical altercation took place between Bellard and two male subjects.
State police said Bellard, who has been assigned to Troop D Patrol since 2021, instituted the physical battery following a verbal argument.
