AUSTIN (KXAN) — Arch Manning was good at times, and he learned at times, but that's how Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian wanted it to be Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe. Manning threw two interceptions but also completed eight passes of more than 15 yards in a 51-3 throttling of the Warhawks at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. He finished 15 of 29 passing for 258 yards with a pair of touchdowns, a 3-yard pass to Jaydon Blue and a 17-yarder to Ryan Wingo. ULM vs. Texas: Longhorns blow out Warhawks 51-3 in Arch Manning’s 1st start Sarkisian said one of the keys to Arch's first career start was the guy he filled in for, regular starter Quinn Ewers. Ewers sat out the game with an abdominal strain he suffered against UTSA, but Sarkisian said Ewers was still involved by keeping Manning loose. "We talked about him keeping it light with Arch," Sarkisian said of Ewers. "He's been through this and he knows how to stay engaged, stay positive and still being a good leader." Noah Gross and Roger Wallace break down Manning's first career start and other parts of the Longhorns' big win over the Warhawks.
