AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Temperatures at Camp Mabry returned to the upper 90s on the last day of summer. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport climbed to 97° with a mix of clouds and sunshine throughout the day. Near record high temperatures were reported in multiple area across Central Texas. Overnight lows early Sunday morning will drop to the mid 70s with low-level clouds turning to afternoon sunshine. Temperatures will be 'slightly-cooler' in comparison to Saturday, with an incoming pattern change likely next week. Let's dive into the details. Hot temperatures return Sunday afternoon The big question is when will it rain? A weak cold front to the north will try to spark a few showers and storms early this next week. The cold front will also open the door to seasonable temperatures returning. Our normal high is 90°. The latest heat dome will depart off to the east. This will allow a subtle pattern change in the Lone Star state. It's been 15 days since Austin measured rainfall. Thankfully we have multiple days for potential showers in our area in the near future. Rain chances will elevate mid-week and will drop by next weekend A rare 10% chance for a shower or storm on Monday with a elevated chance for rain Tuesday and Wednesday. Tracking the Tropics A broad area of low pressure has potential to become further organized in the Caribbean into next week. Chances for development are now up to 70%. High chance for tropical development this next week It's still too early to determine where any potential storm would end up. Once a closed area of low pressure develops, then our forecast models will have a better time with a track. BLOG: First freeze?
