COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- After nearly 60 years of being open for business a local bar sold its final drink last night. The land that the building sits on, just south of OSU was sold to a company that plans to build new apartments in that same spot.   Owner Craig Kempton knows the bar has had a significant impact on the community and he believes he will miss the people as much as they will miss the Bier Stube.   “I love this community, this community has been great to me,” Kempton said. “It's been great to my family, and I believe I've been great back to the community again. And if you see all the people in there, it's everybody on all for one in there.”  Watch: Last call for the Bier Stube Students, alumni and all those who have enjoyed their time at the Bier Stube gathered on Saturday to say their final goodbye. Patron Lauren Minerd personally understands the bar's rich history of serving many Buckeyes.    “My dad and my mom met here and they graduated from here, and so this was an institution to them,” Minerd said. “My dad and mom are here all the time and so it's a next generation bar for us.”    CCS sued again over decision to declare some students transportation impractical Though everyone gathered to celebrate and say thank you to the owners and the bar itself, for some, like Hannah Hays, it's still hard to imagine that this is the last call.    “It's been fun to come here in the past couple of years, and it's just such a unique vibe,” Hays said. “You cannot get that anywhere else (at) any of the bars on campus.”   Kempton said he is hoping to opening another location but, in his opinion, a sequel will never be better than the original.   “This place is 58 years old. It's a staple on this campus,” Kempton said. “It's hard, it's sad. It's a sad day in Columbus history.”
