Arborist electrocuted while trimming tree in Alexandria, police say

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) -- An arborist has died after being electrocuted by a power line while he was trimming a tree in Alexandria on Saturday, according to the Alexandria City Police Department.
According to police, shortly after 10 a.m., the Alexandria fire and police departments responded to a report of an apparent electrocution in the unit block of West Mount Ida Avenue.

Upon arrival, crews found an arborist who was unresponsive. A preliminary investigation revealed that the arborist was trimming a tree when a branch from the tree made contact with a live power line.
He died at the scene.
Dominion Power responded to assist in clearing the electrical hazard.
As of Saturday afternoon, detectives were working to notify the worker's next of kin.
