Most storms should dissipate tonight, though a continued risk for showers and a few rumbles of thunder linger through the night as a slow-moving cold front drops in from the north. Regarding temperatures, expect overnight lows to range between the upper 50s to mid-60s tonight. As mentioned above, the front will stall over the area on Sunday, bringing notably different conditions to different portions of the forecast area. It looks mainly sunny over the Shenandoah Valley and Potomac Highlands, with highs near 80. On the flip side, cooler and cloudier weather conditions are expected north of the front with an east wind flow, keeping highs in the 70s. The weather pattern is forecast to stay mostly the same heading into Monday, and it's not until mid-week that a second and more powerful front will clear our skies of much-improved weather. CThat second front will arrive Tuesday and linger through Wednesday night, and more showers and thunderstorms will accompany this fall front. After the frontal passage, a cooler and drier pattern will be felt over the area. 7-Day Forecast: Tonight: Mostly cloudy skies with some lingering storms.
