ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Wayne County Sheriff's Office confirmed Saturday that they are investigating a shooting on Maple Street in Lyons that left one person dead. According to Sheriff Robert Milby, deputies were called to a domestic incident on Maple Street in Lyons around 10:30 a.m. One person was found shot dead inside a residence, and the shooter was not there when they arrived, he said. "Once officers arrived on scene, they immediately shut down the area and created a perimeter. That's when we called in the State Police Aviation Unit, and they gave us assistance with the air search for the individual. But we were able to find him within just two hours," Milby explained. The alleged shooter, who Milby said was a man, was found within two hours and arrested. The area around Maple Street was shut down as the search occurred. According to Milby, there's no threat to the public. The Sheriff's Office is working with the District Attorney's office as the investigation continues. "Wayne County is considered - generally considered a safe place to live," Milby said Saturday. "We don't have much in the way of high crime in Wayne County. So, this sort of an incident is far and few in between."  Milby was unable to comment further, but said more information would be forthcoming. The identity of the person who died has not been released pending family notification.
