WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A group of women in curly orange wigs and colorful caftans explored the Big E Saturday morning in homage to Helen Roper. Yes, you heard that right. The Western Mass Chapter forming of the International Order of Mrs. Ropers made its debut at The Big E Saturday to honor the beloved minor character portrayed by Audra Lindley on the ABC's TV sitcom "Three's Company." These Helens are among hundreds of costumed fans who have blissfully made their way on bar crawls and to social centers across the country in recent weeks. On Saturday, the Helens of Western Mass. met up to enjoy New England's greatest fair. Members Tina Ennis and Erika Crosby told 22News this was the perfect place to debut. "It started as a pub crawl and became a phenomenon across the U.S. It's all over the country. So now, we're jumping on the bandwagon and we're ready to have some fun," said Crosby. These outings, better known as Mrs. Roper Romps, are organized nationally on social media. And organizers of this Roper Romp said anyone interested in joining the Western Mass. Chapter can join their Facebook group named The International Order of Mrs. Ropers: Western Mass Chapter.
