NOPD investigates three Friday, Saturday shootings

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating three unrelated shootings that occurred between the evening of Friday, Sept. 20, and the morning of Saturday, Sept. 21, with one of the shootings being classified as a homicide.
According to the NOPD, police were called to the first shooting, which occurred in the 4500 block of Chef Menteur Highway, just before 8:15 p.m. on Friday.

Once on scene, officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the hand. The initial investigation showed that the victim was arguing with the suspect when the suspect pulled a firearm and shot him.
New Orleans EMS then took him to a hospital where he is reportedly in stable condition.
Police responded to the second shooting, which happened near the intersection of Touro and North Derbigny streets, around 1 a.m.
On scene, police found a man who had been shot multiple times. New Orleans EMS then arrived on scene and pronounced the victim dead.

The third shooting occurred just before 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Jumonville and Senate streets.
Police say that, according to the victim, the suspect drove up in a blue or black vehicle and fired multiple shots at him. The victim then reportedly realized he was shot and went to a hospital in Jefferson Parish where he is now in good condition.
