JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — In Jefferson Parish, the local transit authority is taking over a long-standing Regional Transit Authority route, making life easier for senior citizens. Parish leaders cut the ribbon on Friday for a new stop on the new "Kenner Loop." The loop runs from Rivertown to the Treasure Chest Casino, Esplanade Shopping Center, the Walmart Super Center and the Armstrong International Airport. Second Harvest hosts consecutive distribution drives for storm victims The route and schedule will remain the same but with the addition of two new stops. "We're so excited that it's coming here to the social security office, number one, and now, they're telling us it's going to Ochsner, the hospital. Who rides the bus? Seniors. Mostly seniors ride the bus," said Kenner resident Brenda Brumfield. And to top it all off, the cost is going down. Starting Monday, the base fare will be $1.25 rather than $1.50, and a 31-day pass for adult riders will be $45, down from $60.
