MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. — A crash in Morgan County left a pedestrian dead early Saturday morning. According to a press release from the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to an area near State Road 252 and Whetstine Road around 4:30 a.m. on a report of a crash involving a pedestrian. When police arrived at the scene, they located an unresponsive female lying in a ditch. Per MCSO, the woman — later identified by the Morgan County Coroner's Office as 33-year-old Victoria Johnson of Martinsville — was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver who allegedly struck Johnson remained on the scene after the crash. Deputies reported that the driver has been cooperative during their investigation. Police do not currently believe speed or impairment were factors in the crash. During a preliminary examination of the incident, deputies determined Johnson — who was wearing black clothing at the time of the crash — was walking westbound about two feet away from the westbound lane of SR 252. Police believe the motorist that struck Johnson did not see her while driving westbound on SR 252. Police are asking tipsters with information on the crash to call MCSO detective Zach Dodson at (765) 353-5544 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-8477.
