GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - For the first time, the Big Event for Kids in Green Bay is now free for all to attend. Former Encompass champion Carol Bush founded the event 35 years ago. The 2024 edition of this beloved community event was held at Heritage Hill State Park on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event is focused on engaging children and their families in various activities that are interactive and hands-on. According to the release, this year's event will honor the legacy of Carol Bush who created the event with the idea of it being accessible for the whole community. LEGO resale store ‘The Brick Spot’ celebrates grand opening in Green Bay Alexa Priddy, Encompass' Director of Fund Development said that the event saw over 3,000 attendees on Saturday to visit over 45 different exhibitors from non-profits to businesses in the community, all of whom brought activities for the guests. Those activities are crucial to the event, according to Priddy. "It's important for the kids because they get to have new experiences, they get to learn new skills," Priddy said. "They get to really practice those fine motor skills and explore their creativity. That means a lot to us since our focus is to be leaders in early education."
