ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — We got to enjoy 11 days of sunny skies, dry weather and summer-like temperatures. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Those showers and storms will finally arrive come the late afternoon hours. Now, we put emphasis on scattered because not everyone will get the wet weather from this round and that it will not last all day. For those who do experience this round, they can expect a quick, soaking downpour. Temperatures for today are expected to climb into the upper 70s, potentially kissing that 80° mark. Skies will slowly clear during the overnight hours, allowing for temperatures to drop into the mid 50s. May not be the best day to rake those leaves, unless you get outside and do it quickly this morning. Scattered showers and storms are expected to move into the area by early afternoon today. pic.twitter.com/vJLc7oGvuE— Leanne Byer (@LeanneByerwx1) September 21, 2024 For Sunday, which also happens to be the first day of astronomical fall, we will transition back to dry weather and partly cloudy skies. Temperatures are anticipated to climb into the upper 70s. It will be a nice way to end the weekend. Be sure to get outside and enjoy it while it lasts because there will be change on the horizon. At exactly 8:44 am ET Sunday, direct rays of sunlight will pass over the equator, marking the start of astronomical fall. Legally, you are permitted to start putting up Halloween decorations & consuming pumpkin spice starting at 8:45 am. pic.twitter.com/YsaidDMPBy— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) September 20, 2024 To kick off our work week, we will start off cloudy and mostly dry. Scattered showers will develop later throughout the day with temperatures only expected to climb into the low 70s. Our focus for this weekend will be to focus on how long those showers will linger into the evening hours, potentially making it a wet games for the Bills over in Orchard Park. For now, those with tickets should plan on at least some wet weather in the vicinity of Orchard Park. The unsettled weather pattern will continue into Tuesday, leaving the opportunity for scattered rain showers to redevelop once again. Temperatures, again, are only expected to climb into the low 70s for highs. It's looking increasingly likely Bills fans will have to deal with wet weather Monday. Exactly how much of that rain is left over by gametime will be the question we start nailing down this weekend. For now, tailgaters should plan accordingly. #billsmafia pic.twitter.com/e6RLvKQA1f— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) September 20, 2024 Unsettled weather will continue into the second half of the week, where we have put scattered rain chances for Wednesday and Thursday. We will keep them low for now, as we are not entirely sure how it will play out. Temperatures for both days look to only stay in the low to mid 70s. It seems as though the wet weather is expected to clear out by Friday, leaving us with mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures for Friday are not expected to climb out of the 60s. 8-Day Forecast Looking ahead for next weekend, it looks like, for now, we will remain dry. Temperatures for both days will stay in the low 70s, which is very seasonable for this time of the year. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves and focus on this weekend for now!
