Petersburg police apprehend suspect in 2022 homicide case

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- The Petersburg Bureau of Police has arrested a man in connection to a homicide from 2022.
According to police, 28-year-old Q'Shawn Scott was arrested in the area of Halifax Street and Baylors Lane on Friday, Sept. 20. Officers had been called to the scene for a shots fired call.
"Scott was wanted in connection to a homicide that occurred on Saturday, September 10, 2022, on Cottonwood Drive in the Pecan Acres Subdivision," a spokesperson said in a release on Saturday morning.
Petersburg police reported a deadly shooting in the 500 block of Cottonwood Drive on Sept. 10, 2022, but no suspect information was provided at that time.
Scott was charged with second-degree murder, using a firearm in the commission of a felony and was served an outstanding warrant for domestic assault, according to police.
"Scott is being held pending his appearance in court," Saturday's release reads.
