BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Saturday morning fire caused a total of $20,000 in damage to a home on Park Lane Circle in the City of Lockport, fire officials announced. Officials said at 6:20 a.m., a caller reported visible smoke from a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, authorities said smoke was coming out of a window on the second floor, but no visible fire broke through to the house's exterior. According to fire officials, the fire was in the kitchen and was controlled by crews within a few minutes. There was also a minor spread of fire to the attic, which was extinguished. About 300 gallons of water was used in the process, authorities said. The four occupants weren't home at the time of the fire, but they were contacted and returned, officials said. No injuries were reported, but the four people are displaced by the fire. Firefighters, who were on the scene for about two hours, removed two cats and a pet rat from the home and returned them to the owners, authorities said. The fire is believed to be accidental in nature. Officials said investigators were still on the scene as of 9 a.m. Saturday.
