BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPOUD) — Denham Springs High School head coach Brett Beard and his players had to fight until the final seconds to beat his former team at Woodlawn High School. Both teams played sloppy but showed they were in for the fight. In the final minutes of the third quarter, the game was tied 6-6. The Panthers got tricky with the wildcat formation, leaving Elijah Clark wide open for a touchdown. The play put Woodlawn up 13-6 entering the fourth quarter. In the game's final six minutes, Woodlawn fumbled, allowing Denham Springs to tie the game. The Yellowjackets capitalized with quarterback Jerry Horne hitting John Gaspard, his wide receiver, for a touchdown to even the score at 13-13. With two minutes left in the game, Denham Springs made a field goal ending with a 16-13 win.
