ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — To mark 100 years at Nazaeth University since opening in 1924 - Friday, officials debuted the Centennial History Wall on the first floor of the Golisano Academic Center.
According to its website, "Nazareth opened in September 1924 in a mansion called the "glass house" on Lake Avenue in Rochester, then moved to Augustine Street in Rochester in 1928 to accommodate growing enrollment." (WROC/Melanie Sosa)
Organizers said the wall will symbolically represent what Nazareth stands for now, and where it is headed in the next century.
"Watching the Sisters of Saint Joseph who are still here - it's really special to have the people who once founded us and now the people who are still here and helping support us," said Eric Teasdale, a junior who also provides tours, educating newcomers on the university's past.
The unveiling comes just before what's called "Nazareth Weekend," a homecoming event expected to bring thousands of people to the campus.
