SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Two siblings were sentenced to prison for embezzling more than $1 million from a local real estate firm, authorities said. Julie Blease, 54, was sentenced to five years and eight months, while her brother Colin Miller, 58, was sentenced to five years, Sgt. Marcello Orsini with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said in a news release Friday. Both have to pay restitution in the amount of $970,000. The real estate firm, which owns an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Camino Del Mar in Del Mar, is where Blease worked for more than 25 years. In-N-Out sends cease-and-desist to popular North Park bar In late 2021, investigators found the former property manager manipulated the company's accounting records to cover the misappropriated funds, which were funneled to her brother's company, according to authorities. Blease's employment was terminated in 2021. Then in August 2023, Blease, of San Diego, and Miller, of Poway, were both arrested and booked at the Vista Detention Facility on charges of identity theft, forgery and money laundering with a white-collar crime enhancement. Blease also was charged with embezzlement.
