Time flies! It's the midway point of the high school football regular season already and we had a classic rivalry as our WCPO 9 Game of the Week.Moeller extended its win streak over rival St. Xavier to five games with a 45-37 victory Friday night. Both teams' offenses were off to a fast start, combining for more points in the first half Friday than in the two games the teams competed in last season.Up 35-24 at halftime, Moeller never let off the gas. Quarterback Matt Ponatoski went 18-of-25 for 321 yards and six touchdowns. He is Moeller's all-time leader in career passing yards and touchdowns. Moeller continues win streak over rival St. XElder had a 14-0 lead on visiting St. Xavier (Louisville), but the opponents were able to erase it and convert a 2-point conversion with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter. Down 32-30 with just seven seconds left, Ludlow went for two but Newport's defense came up big to get the stop.
