Dense fog greeted locations to the west this morning, but that was the only minor issue this Friday. With the fog now dissipated, the entire DMV is soaking up plentiful sunshine as we head into a warm, quiet afternoon. It will take a little longer for those who had to deal with the fog, but everyone will climb into the 80s before the day is done. Those to the east, especially around the DC metro, stand the highest chance of seeing the mid-80s. A few clouds will linger here and there, but clear and quiet conditions will continue into your Friday night. Low temperatures will fall into the 50s and lower 60s. Unfortunately, the weekend doesn't look as quiet and dry as it did earlier in the week. While the coastal storm is long gone, a new frontal boundary will arrive from the Great Lakes on Saturday. It will be calm with some sunshine Saturday morning, allowing us to return to the lower 80s again. As the front swings in, isolated showers and storms will develop in the early afternoon across western MD and WV. This activity will then roll east and increase in coverage throughout the rest of the day. While it won't be a total washout, scattered showers and storms will be likely from 4-10 PM, which isn't great news with all the events happening across the DMV. It will start to dry out after midnight and into Sunday morning. Fall will begin on Sunday in classic fashion, with clouds and cooler temperatures thanks to the front lingering overhead. A few spotty showers could develop, but most of us should stay dry with highs in the lower to middle 70s. High pressure should have enough influence on Monday to cause sunshine to break back in, but it will remain cooler to kick off the new week. The forecast gets incredibly tricky from there as we sit on the edge of high pressure to the northeast and multiple waves of unsettled weather to our south and west. Models hint at this unsettled weather winning out beyond Monday, meaning daily rain chances beginning on Tuesday. Sustained rain will likely occur next Wednesday and Thursday as a more substantial front crosses through the area. Have a great rest of your Friday and a fantastic weekend! 7-Day Forecast: Today: Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. Winds: ESE 3-5 mph, High: 84 (79-87) Tonight: Partly cloudy skies.
