ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Early voting in Virginia kicked off on Friday, and officials outlined ways they are promoting fair and open elections. The Commonwealth's Attorney for Arlington County and Falls Church highlighted its own efforts in Virginia. In a news release, the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said that it has an election protection task force, poll worker training, voter education and increased staffing on Election Day. Alexandria animal shelter highlights ‘Responsible Dog Ownership Day’ The Attorney's Office election protection task force is a "dedicated team to rapidly respond to and investigate any reports of voter intimidation, interference, or fraud." Officials have also given training materials on election laws and procedures to poll workers and will be working on further training. The Attorney's Office said that it will also have more prosecutors on call on Election Day in November to help address legal issues that may arise.
