Weather Forecast: Saturday downpours for some
Sep 20, 2024
ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Another day, another round of beautiful summer weather across WNY. Many locations surged into the 80s this afternoon. While high clouds will stream into the region from the west, there is no threat for rain into the night. Those clouds are more a sign of changes to come into our Saturday.
We start our weekend with partly cloudy skies Saturday while watching showers and storms firing to our west. A piece of energy will rotate overhead into the afternoon, igniting scattered showers and thunderstorms. This activity will prove to be our first real opportunity for wet weather in about a dozen days. That said, not everyone will get rain from this round. Those that do should expect a quick soaking downpour before the activity fades into the night.
Sunday transitions back to partly cloudy conditions as we welcome the new fall season. It should be a pleasant close to the weekend.
At exactly 8:44 am ET Sunday, direct rays of sunlight will pass over the equator, marking the start of astronomical fall. The Bills play Monday, which means we'll miss threading the needle between rain chances. Scattered showers will again develop on Monday and will likely linger through much of the day. Our focus this weekend will be buttoning up how much of that rain will linger into the evening for the game itself. For now, those with tickets should plan on at least some wet weather in the vicinity of Orchard Park.
It's looking increasingly likely Bills fans will have to deal with wet weather Monday. Exactly how much of that rain is left over by gametime will be the question we start nailing down this weekend. For now, tailgaters should plan accordingly. #billsmafia pic.twitter.com/e6RLvKQA1f— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) September 20, 2024
