An established CityCenterDC spot is closing up for Election Day in November to give workers an entire day to get out and vote. Awarded chef Amy Brandwein says devoted diners can still get their hands on a local produce-focused meal from Centrolina that’ll take dinner off their busy to-do list that Tuesday. View this post on Instagram A post shared by CENTROLINA MERCATO E OSTERIA (@centrolinadc) An exclusive Election Night Dinner Kit for two ($150) is available to pre-order now until November 2. It includes five courses and can be picked up the day before or on the morning of November 6. All proceeds from the meal kits will go toward the Centrolina staff’s paid leave for the day. “I wanted everyone to be able to concentrate on the election, this is a really important one,” Brandwein tells Eater. “[The meal kit] is about supporting our community and allowing them to take the night off, so you can take a load off basically.” The courses are comprised of cheese and charcuterie, hummus and a verde salad, seasonal lasagna (layered with pumpkin, kale, and fontina), butterflied red snapper, and a crostata (Italian tart) filled with kabocha squash, raisins, and almonds. The verde salad is an extremely popular dish at Centrolina, and Brandwein even teased that it is also a favorite dish of one of the presidential candidates. The lasagna and crostata are filled with seasonal goodies and the snapper should be easy to heat up at home. “The dessert is inspired by one of the candidates who loves to eat Raisin Bran for breakfast, so it’s a riff on that,” Brandwein says. The decorated chef says the kit comes with detailed, step-by-step instructions that anyone with a kitchen can follow. “We don’t want people to be going through gymnastics to make themselves dinner, they can just pop it in the oven or toss a salad and not have to worry.” Liz Clayman A tower of treats served during the Bar Pendry’s boozy tea service.
