Woman killed crossing street in San Jose Thursday night

(KRON) -- A woman was killed walking across Stevens Creek Boulevard in the latest traffic fatality in San Jose, officials confirmed. San Jose Police Department officers responded at 8:06 p.m. to the area of Stevens Creek and Hanson Avenue on a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
Arriving at the scene, a preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2018 Honda Civic driven by a woman was heading east on Stevens Creek Boulevard. The vehicle, police said, struck a woman who was crossing from the north curb to the south.

The pedestrian was outside of any marked or traffic-controlled walkways.
The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The driver, according to police, remained on the scene and was cooperative.
There was no word on whether drugs or alcohol were believed to have been factors. The incident marked San Jose's 38th fatal collision and 38th traffic death this year. It was also the 14th pedestrian death of 2024.
The victim's identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office, police said.
