Mother of Wilson Price asks if son’s death was preventable On Friday, police released further information that said the handler allowed Ty to get out of the vehicle to relieve himself at a recruiting advertisement. During that time, Ty went around the parked vehicle. The handler went to look for Ty and discovered the tragedy. The department said Ty was never placed on a ledge. "It is possible Ty heard the noise from a parade down below and was attempting to see where it was coming from and jumped over the wall. Ty was highly trained, but still a dog. Ty was a respected and beloved member of the Salina Police Department and no member of this department would ever place him in a needlessly dangerous position," the department said. Services for Ty haven't been released.
