TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) told 27 News there was an error with some of the cashless tolling statements last month. According to KTA Spokeswoman Rachel Bell, some customers who had past due bills from August were sent a statement with just the mailed statement fee. She said the statements were sent without including the past-due amount. Bell told 27 News that the error happened when bills were sent from the new system on Aug. 1. She said the Sept. bills were the first time aged balances were due, which revealed the issue. KTA talks ‘double-billed’ confusion facing drivers in Kansas under new cashless toll system According to Bell, the problem has since been fixed. "Some customers who had a PAST DUE balance from their August statement but no new tolls since, received statements showing just the mailed statement fee without the past due amount listed," Bell said. This isn't the first time the KTA Cashless Tolling system has had teething problems. Back in June, Bell told 27 News there had been an error for the billing at the Exit 202 location. The “transponder-based rate” for the exit was listed as $1.16 for K-Tag customers but Bell said the price for the rate should be reflected as $1.06. For more local news, click here.
