ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Another large retailer in Albuquerque was damaged by a fire for the second time in a little more than one week. Albuquerque Fire Rescue crews responded to both fires, the latest was outside Walmart on Coors Boulevard near Interstate 40 Thursday night. AFR said the flames covered the outside of the store at 2550 Coors Boulevard NW and were climbing toward the roof. "We put a lot of water on that fire last night; there was a lot of material involved," said Albuquerque Fire Rescue Lt. Jason Fejer. The damage from the fire was contained to the outside of the building. AFR is working to determine the cause of the fire at Walmart and one that started outside a Smith's Grocery Store on Sept. 11. In that case, wooden pallets outside of the grocery store caught fire and damaged the outside wall and sign of the business. "As the temperatures start cooling down, we are going to see an increase in activity in outside fires. These two fires and the size of them aren't typical for this time of year," said Fejer.
