U.S. Ski and Snowboard announces 17 skier ski jumping team TuesdayU.S. Ski and Snowboard announced their ski jumping team of 17 skiers Tuesday. Two-time Olympian Casey Larson highlights the team. The ski jumping World Cup season will begin Nov. 22 in Lillehammer, Norway, and conclude with the World Championships in Trondheim, Norway, Feb. 27 to March 8, 2025. There will be a home Cup in Lake Placid, New York, Feb. 6-8, 2025. Parkites Page Jones and Samantha Macuga are on the women’s B and C teams, respectively. “I am really excited about the upcoming season,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard Ski Jumping Sport Director Anders Johnson. “The team has put in a lot of work during the offseason, and their growth has been incredible. They’re focused, motivated and ready to compete at a high level. I believe we’re just scratching the surface of what they can achieve. I’m confident that if we keep this momentum going, we’re going to have a strong year ahead. The athletes are eager to get out there and prove themselves.” U.S. Ski and Snowboard announces Nordic combined team WednesdayU.S. Ski and Snowboard announced their Nordic combined team of 14 skiers Wednesday. Two-time Olympian Ben Loomis and 2022 Olympian Stephen Schumann highlight the team. The first Nordic combined World Cup will be Nov. 28 in Ruka, Finland, with the season wrapping up in March. In addition to Schumann, who is from Park City, there are two fellow Parkites in Ian Carmak and Augie Roepke who are on the men’s development team. “I’m thrilled to announce this year’s Nordic combined teams!” said Ski Jumping/Nordic Combined Sport Director Anders Johnson. “Their impressive progress over the past year has been remarkable and a true testament to their hard work and dedication. I’m really looking forward to watching this team excel this season on the World Cup tour and at the World Championships in Trondheim, Norway.” Miners girls soccer crushes Jordan on the road ThursdayThe Miners girls soccer squad crushed Jordan on the road Thursday 4-0. Park City scored two goals in each half while pitching a shutout. The team is 11-3, with three games left in their regular season. The Miners will next take on Hillcrest Monday at 7 p.m. for their senior night at Dozier Field. Park City will see off 13 seniors. The team defeated Hillcrest Aug. 28 7-1 on the road. Miners girls volleyball blanks Cottonwood at home ThursdayThe Miners girls volleyball squad defeated Cottonwood at home Thursday three sets to none. Park City won the first set in a 26-24 battle before cruising in the second and third. The team is 10-3 and with plenty of the regular season left to play. The Miners will next face Tooele Tuesday at home at 6:30 p.m. The Tooele game will be the first of two for the two regional opponents, with Park City traveling to Tooele Oct. 21. Miners boys golf wins fifth-straight match at Mt. ViewThe Miners boys golf squad won their fifth-straight match Wednesday at Mt. View with a team score of 278. Park City defeated second place Stansbury by 18 strokes. The team’s top scorers Wednesday were junior Rawson Hardy (68), senior Sam Hunt (69) and senior Forrest Summers (71). The Miners’ next match will be next Thursday at Riverbend.
