NEXTpittsburgh is beginning its next chapter as the baton of editor is handed to the next generation.Today is Brian Hyslop’s last day as editor of NEXTpittsburgh. This is the culmination of a successful transition that we have collaborated on for the past several weeks. Brian will be joining Allegheny County Airport Authority as editor of Blue Sky News. We wish him and Blue Sky the very best and look forward to staying in touch. We are excited to announce that our digital editor, Cristina Holtzer, who has been with NEXTpittsburgh for more than two years, will assume the role of editor. Cristina brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role and is well-equipped to lead our team. In her role as digital editor, Cristina supported Brian with editorial direction, SEO strategy and editing and successfully oversaw the growth of our social engagement team. Before joining NEXT, Cristina worked as the social media editor for Fast Company, as a social community editor for Food Network and at several local media outlets including Pittsburgh Magazine and WTAE.Cristina Holtzer. Brian and Cristina have worked together for years, both at NEXT and elsewhere, so this has been a collaborative change.I am excited for what’s ahead for NEXTpittsburgh, because Cristina has the expertise and vision for what our audience is looking for as well as how we can best go out and meet them where they are. I am both grateful for where Brian has taken us, and for what’s ahead with Cristina.Cristina has often expressed to me how grateful she is to Brian for bringing her on board at NEXTpittsburgh and for sharing his expertise with her. And I too want to thank Brian for so much.His service to our team has been tremendous. He has been instrumental in elevating NEXT to be the engaging and respected news outlet we are. Under his leadership NEXTpittsburgh won its most Golden Quills and Black Pittsburgh Media Federation awards. We know Brian will bring that same talent to our friends at the Airport Authority. I know Cristina is dedicated to continuing that same commitment to excellence. After she has had a few weeks to settle into the role, Cristina will share her editorial vision for the organization.We look forward to the future of NEXTpittsburgh with Cristina in her new role.
