SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A Sioux Falls man is behind bars -- arrested on charges of kidnapping, attempted rape and assault. Sioux Falls Police say the crime began here near 13th Street and Elmwood Avenue Wednesday night around 11. A 47-year-old woman was walking when a prosecutor says a car pulled up, a woman got out and hit the victim in the head, knocking her unconscious. "She ended up inside an apartment and was being held against her will," Sam Clemens, spokesperson for the Sioux Falls Police Department, said. ‘Appropriate charges will be filed’ in Henry investigation A prosecutor says she woke up on a couch and was bound and blindfolded and eventually she was knocked unconscious a second time. Authorities say the victim was then taken out of Sioux Falls and left tied to a pole with a telephone cord in rural Minnehaha County near Clear Lake. "She was able to flag somebody down and then they called the Sheriff's Office," Clemens said. "The deputies got out there and when they learned all of this took place in Sioux Falls, they notified the police detectives and they started investigating this." The investigation led officers here to the 800 block of South Lake Avenue where they arrested 30-year-old Edgar Segura Thursday night, almost 24 hours after the alleged crime. "We don't have a whole lot of other information, it's still an early, active investigation," Clemens said. "So we're really hoping that we'll be able to learn more details especially over this weekend, they'll be working on it then." Clemens says police could use some help from anyone living near the 13th and Elmwood area. "This is a situation where little piece of information can make a big difference," Clemens said. "So if people know anything about this, if they happened to see anything or even if it was caught on surveillance video, we would like them to call police and get in touch with detectives." So far, Segura is the only person charged in this case. He's being held on a quarter-million dollars cash only bond. The prosecutor mentioned another suspect's name in court, but at this point she doesn't face charges.
