NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Fall starts on Sunday but you wouldn't know it with late summer weather continuing over the next week. At this point don't expect any changes in the forecast through at least Monday or Tuesday. Afternoon highs will be in the low 90s across the area through the weekend. Some inland spots could even see the mid 90s. Overnight lows will drop to around 70-72 north and mid 70s south. Some areas north of I-12 could see upper 60s briefly Saturday morning thanks to slightly drier air. The lower humidity will be along and west of I55. Otherwise expect muggy weather to continue on the south shore. At this point it doesn't look like there is any shot of fall coming in anytime soon. We will be watching the Caribbean and southern Gulf for potential tropical development over the next 5-7 days but at this point there is nothing out there. However everybody along the northern Gulf should be watching this development potential through next week.
