MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Several teenagers were detained on Friday morning for threatening and bringing weapons to Memphis Shelby County Schools, according to reports. Memphis police say they detained five teens concerning threats of mass violence to local schools in the Memphis area. A 15-year-old male was arrested and charged in relation to threats made to Whitehaven High School. A 16-year-old male was arrested and charged in relation to threats made to Craigmont High School and Cordova High School. A 16-year-old Southwind High School student was detained and charged with bringing ammunition and fireworks to school. A 13-year-old Highland Oaks Middle School student was also detained and charged with bringing an airsoft pistol to school. Westside Middle School closed after staff member shot The SCSO says both teens were taken to the Youth Justice and Education Center. “This type of behavior will not be tolerated, and we are committed to ensuring the safety of our community. I'm asking parents to have an immediate conversation with their children about the seriousness of this foolish behavior," said Sheriff Floyd Bonner.
