EDINBURGH, Ind. -- Authorities are on the scene of a "serious" crash that has brought traffic to a standstill in the northbound and southbound lanes of 900 North and U.S. 31 in Edinburgh early Friday evening. The Edinburgh Police Department confirmed in a Facebook post that first responders responded to a crash in the area of U.S. 31 and 900 North near County Road 900 N. in Edinburgh. EPD added that power lines are currently down as the roadway remains closed in both directions. The German Township Volunteer Fire Department confirmed in a separate Facebook post that a Lifeline helicopter was also called to assist at the scene of the crash. As of this article's publication, authorities have not confirmed how many people were injured or the total number of vehicles that were involved in the crash.
