NASHVILLE, Ind. - As the final days of summer are approaching, Brown County is already booming with visitors eager for autumn. The streets of downtown Nashville are filled with people exploring. One women's bible study group visits Brown County every year around this time.  "We knew that the park had really good places to hike,” said Allison Spegal. “It was going to be beautiful, the town of Nashville is beautiful.” Fever in playoffs for first time since 2016, will face No. 3 Sun While enjoying the cooler morning temperatures, the group hiked 1.2 miles around Ogle Lake, where it was fully shaded by trees. "It definitely feels like you're in this lush destination in the hills,” said Christina Villani, interim executive director for the county. “We have the largest state park in Indiana, and just overall, fall is beautiful."With shades of green, orange, red, and yellow, the leaves are already starting to turn. “Out in nature, the smell. Fall has a smell of the dry leaves,” said Angie Pitt, another woman in the Bible Study. “The heat doesn't so much put you in the fall vibe, but the atmosphere does for sure.”With the ongoing drought, FOX59/CBS4 Weather Authority meteorologists said the trees are stressed this year due to the lack of water.  This means the vibrant hues of our fall foliage could fade or turn brown quickly. More than half of Indiana counties have burn bans However, that's not stopping guests from seeing all the county has to offer, other than just the colorful leaves.“We've been ramping up quite well,” said Villani. “Our busiest season is October leading into December." Over the next few months, hotels, cottages, and cabins nestled in the woods are booked and busy. “Usually our fall season books up early, but I'm sure that if you call us, we can give you some availability,” said Villani.
