FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Two sets of human remains were found Friday afternoon along the St. Marys River in downtown Fort Wayne, prompting an investigation. Fort Wayne police and firefighters at a dock leading to the St. Marys River during an investigation Friday, Sept. 20, 2024. Firefighters and investigators with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the scene around 1 p.m. at a dock near where Van Buren Street becomes Sherman Boulevard. FWPD told WANE 15 that volunteers were cleaning the river when they found the remains. The fire department helped remove the remains from the water. An officer confirmed the remains were those of two adults. Police were also investigating a possible crime scene that afternoon near Guldlin Park, not far from where the remains were found.
