CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Mecklenburg County deputy was involved in a car accident with an unlicensed juvenile while conducting a funeral escort on Friday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputy J. Turner was hit by another vehicle at Beatties Ford Road and Trinity Road around 1 p.m. Friday. She was on duty at the time, helping with a funeral procession. Turner was transported to the hospital by Medic and was not seriously injured. “Deputy Turner suffered some minor injuries, but thanks to the quick response from Medic, she is now receiving excellent care,” said Sheriff Garry McFadden. “We look forward to welcoming Deputy Turner back once she has fully recovered.” The driver of the other vehicle is a juvenile, the sheriff’s office said. They were charged with not having a license and failure to heed lights and siren. The juvenile’s mother also received a citation for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
