WinnDixie in Zachary will close in November, reopen as new ALDI grocery store

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Louisiana will be getting another new ALDI grocery store location.
According to an ALDI spokesperson, the Winn-Dixie at 5005 Church St., Zachary, will be converted into an ALDI. The supermarket will close for renovations in November, with plans to reopen to the community several months later.
"While this store is temporarily closed, we continue to proudly serve the residents of Zachary at our other area stores," said the ALDI spokesperson. "We thank our customers for their years of loyalty at this location and look forward to seeing them soon as a new ALDI."
The supermarket chain says they plan to convert other Winn-Dixie locations into ALDI stores over time. This comes after ALDI closed a deal to buy out Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets earlier this year.

"We're converting some Winn-Dixie stores to the ALDI format to better support the communities we serve," said the ALDI spokesperson. "Customers can expect a quick, easy shopping experience with great products at the lowest possible price."
Winn-Dixie employees of the Zachary location will have the chance to apply first to work under the ALDI franchise or have the option to transfer to another Winn-Dixie location.
