BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Mike Davis, owner of Toucan Funnel Cakes, joined 17 News at Sunrise to talk about his signature deep-fried to-perfection funnel cakes. The Kern County Fair is back and so are the perfect nostalgic sweet treats. Funnel Cakes were originally created by Amish migrators in the east coast, says Davis. Women would bake snacks while neighbors helped each other construct barns and fix houses. Businesses are booming while getting you ready for the Kern County Fair Funnels were used in the absence of stoves and fryers. From that point, the methods to bake funnel cakes have evolved.
