AUSTIN (KXAN) — Following their first regular season home loss since 2018, the Westlake Chaparrals hope to right the ship on the road against a top-10 opponent Friday. The Chaps dropped 10 spots in the latest Dave Campbell's Texas Football 6A poll to No. 14 after the 39-21 loss to No. 8 Humble Atascocita, and they don't get a break with No. 9 Cibolo Steele next. Texas high school football scores for Thursday, Sept. 19 Steele enters the game with a 3-0 record coming off a 56-10 victory over San Antonio Brandeis. Quarterback Chad Warner was incredibly efficient in the win, completing 9 of 12 pass attempts for 230 yards and four touchdowns. Jonathan Hatton rushed for 104 yards on 14 carries while Royal Cappel racked up 174 receiving yards on just four catches. The Chaps had a tough time running the ball against the Eagles. They rushed for just 61 yards on 29 carries in the loss, but some good news for them is that Steele allowed Brandeis to rush for 150 yards, so perhaps the Chaps can get the run game going again. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. from Lehnhoff Stadium in Schertz and will be live streamed in the video player above and on KXAN.com/Westlake for those in the Austin viewing area. The game will be available on the NFHS Network via subscription for those outside of the area.
