Nebraska State Capitol (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR/Nebraska Examiner Sept. 20)–One Nebraska lawmaker is still not on board for a winner-take-all system when the state awards it’s electoral votes in presidential elections. The Nebraska Examiner reports that Omaha Senator Mike McDonnell was among the two dozen Republican state lawmakers that met in Lincoln on Wednesday with Governor Pillen and South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and others supporting former President Donald Trump. A spokesperson for McDonnell says the senator doesn’t support the change. Nebraska and Maine award a single Electoral College vote to the winner in each congressional district, plus two votes to the statewide winner of the presidential popular vote. Pillen told lawmakers that he needs them to show him they have 33 firm commitments from state lawmakers to support winner-take-all — the minimum needed to overcome a probable filibuster — before he calls a special session to pursue it. The Examiner reports that Pillen would prefer to call a session no later than next week.
