Husband suspected of killing wife in North Carolina dies from selfinflicted gunshot

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS)— A married couple is dead after two shooting incidents on Wednesday, according to the Burke County Sheriff's Office.
Around noon Wednesday, Sept. 18, deputies were called to Stephens Road on the outskirts of Morganton after neighbors reported a disturbance and possible shooting.

Inside the home, deputies found Rita Hoglen, who lived at the home, dead. Her husband, Gerald Hoglen, was named as a suspect.
After a self-inflicted shooting, Gerald Hoglen was discovered dead about eight miles away at a home on Chester Avenue in the Sunnyside community, authorities said.
Officials said both deaths are still under investigation. At this time, the two incidents have not been confirmed to be connected.
