APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - The Kaleidoscope Academy in Appleton held a Family Night, providing a variety of activities for the community in attendance. The Kaleidoscope Academy is a project-based charter school for 6th-8th grade, where students have elective classes. The event was started a few years ago and has become a neighborhood tradition, according to Appleton School District's Assistant Superintendent, Sheree Garvey. Titletown holds Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, exhibiting culture and tradition "It really just kicks off the school year," Garvey said. "We have a unique partnership at Kaleidoscope with the Erb Park neighborhood, and it's a great opportunity for us to get connected." The Boys and Girls Club was also in attendance, as there's an extended day learning program before and after, so it allowed them to showcase the partnership the school district has with them. Alex Molitor, the Principal of Kaleidoscope Academy said it's the fourth annual Family Night hosted, and that it's about relationship building. "We want our students and families to come and meet each other, meet the staff and just have fun," Molitor said. Afghan refugees featured in new exhibition at the History Museum in Appleton Molitor added that they were offering tours, including parts of the remodeled areas and expansion project. There were free haircuts, photos and a therapy dog in attendance at the event, along with kid-friendly activities.
