Driver fleeing from police dies in Paulding County crash

CECIL, Ohio (WANE) A police chase in Paulding County, Ohio ended early Friday morning after the fleeing driver crashed his SUV, which resulted in his death.
According to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the driver, was going north on South Main Street in the Village of Cecil at around 3 a.m. while being pursued by Paulding County Sheriff's deputies. The driver, identified as Michael Dean Geiger, 58, of Bryan, Ohio, lost control of his GMC Yukon, causing it to crash. Geiger was ejected from the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The news release did not indicate why Geiger was being pursued.
The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Crane Township/Cecil Fire Department, Paulding County Coroner’s Office, and Hague’s Towing & Repair.
