BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Caltrans, the city of Bakersfield, and the Arts Council of Kern held a press conference to celebrate the Clean California Art Mural Project. The event started at 9 a.m. on Thursday at Golden State Highway near Garces Circle celebrating the murals painted on the concrete pillars and walls of the underpass. Special Friends Day brings all the fun of the Kern County Fair in a sensory-friendly environment A team of Bakersfield artists created murals showcasing the region's natural beauty, featuring depictions of flora and fauna such as the California condor and a majestic mountain lion. Artists attached the Clean California Art Mural Project pose for a group photo at the mural unveiling Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024. The project aims to beautify public spaces while highlighting California's wildlife and environment.
