BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The embezzlement trial of former Fairfax School District Trustee Palmer Moland has been postponed to next year.
Moland, out on bail, appeared in court Friday as attorneys set a new trial date of Jan. 27. He's charged with 10 felonies, including embezzlement by a public officer.
Man guilty on all counts in rape, murder of woman, 85
According to prosecutors, Moland ignored bylaws that restrict using public funds to hire a law firm that was set to investigate him. Prosecutors say he should have abstained from voting to hire the firm because it posed a conflict of interest.
Moland is also charged with voter fraud. Prosecutors say he lied about living within the district during the 2018 and 2020 elections.
