Happy Fri-yay, DMV! We finally made it to the end of the workweek and the forecast for your Friday is not looking bad at all. We are starting your day off with some dense fog across the western portions of the viewing area. If you plan on driving along I-81 make sure to take your time. The National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory until 10 this morning. This afternoon will feature a mixture of sun and clouds with slightly warmer temperatures. Highs this afternoon will be about 5 to 10 degrees above average for this time of year, reaching the 80s. Mostly clear skies will be the trend as we head through your Friday night. Overnight lows 50s and 60s. Some patchy overnight fog will be possible. As we head into the last weekend of the summer season we will be tracking spotty showers and cooler conditions. Saturday will start dry with clouds building in. A back door cold front will move into the area as we head into Saturday afternoon and evening sparking up spotty showers and storms across the area. The Storm Prediction Center has portions of the DMV under a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather with the main threat being damaging winds and small hail. Highs for Saturday afternoon will reach into the 80s once again. Some storms could linger as we head into Saturday night with lows dipping into the 60s. We are kicking the fall season off with cooler temperatures by Sunday, the cold front will stall across the area. Cloudy, cool, and some drizzle will be seen as we head into the day on Sunday mainly along the Mason-Dickson line and higher elevations. Some peaks of sunshine will be possible Sunday afternoon in southern Maryland and northern Virginia. Highs for Sunday will reach into the 70s and 80s. High pressure will briefly build into the area by Monday. A stray shower will be possible along the Appalachians where everywhere else will be dealing with mostly dry conditions.
