Trial date set for husband charged in Reston double murder case

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- The trial date has been set for a man who was charged for his alleged involvement in killing his wife and another man in their Reston home when the couple's au pair was previously charged.
The Fairfax County Police Department arrested Brendan Banfield on Monday. Officials announced the indictment of Brendan Banfield in the murders of his wife, Christine Banfield, 37, and Joseph Ryan, 39, of Springfield.

Brendan Banfield's attorney appeared in court Thursday and his trial date was set for Feb. 3, 2025, for 20 days.
He is being charged with four counts of aggravated murder and one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and is currently being held without bond.
Brenden Bandfield is accused of killing Christine Banfield and Ryan on Feb. 24, 2023. Officers had found Christine Banfield stabbed near Ryan, who was shot, in an upstairs bedroom of the home that the couple shared with their au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhaes.
Peres Magalhaes was arrested months later and charged for allegedly shooting and killing Ryan. She was held without bond.
As of Monday, Peres Magalhaes was still in custody.
